I am an Oxford-based portrait photographer, specializing in creating beautiful images of people that capture just who they are. I love to use natural light but am also happy to use additional lighting in an informal studio setting.
I am passionate about black and white images because of their timeless focus on the face, but I also love to work in colour when it makes the images sing.
With young twins of my own, I find it easy and great fun to build rapport with babies, toddlers and kids. Likewise, I respect the often-hidden maturity of teenagers and so ensure that they are portrayed in a way which acknowledges their evolving identity too.
I specialize in creating beautiful, characterful portraits of special needs children, adults, and their families. I am a Family Portrait Photographer at Helen and Douglas House, the world’s first hospice and respice for children, and in 2012 I became the first UK-based photographer to be an accredited member of Special Kids Photography of America.
For the past fifteen years I have been photographing musicians, poets, artists and writers, both in the flow of their performances, and in portrait sessions for their albums, books, and websites. I have also photographed a wide range of community events in Oxfordshire, including The Children’s Food Festival, Oxford’s May Morning and Day of the Dead, the Cowley Road Carnival, Luminox, The Dawson Street Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and the Catweazle Club.
I am sorry to say that I am no longer taking on photography commissions, given other work commitments, and so am focused on being a volunteer photographer for Helen and Douglas House.
